For every $1 earned by white, non-Hispanic men working full time, year round, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women earn 85 cents. Any disparity is harmful for AAPI women overall, but it’s even worse for some subpopulations of AAPI women such as Burmese and Nepali women, who earned just 52 cents and 54 cents, respectively, for every $1 earned by white, non-Hispanic men from 2015 to 2019. Without equal pay, AAPI women will continue to endure some of the harshest economic effects of every crisis. We need economic justice for all AAPI women to ensure that they are paid fairly for their work.
