To Live Up To Our Founders’ Vision, Improve Civics Education

Young people are demonstrating a wave of activism that has not been seen in generations. But our public schools are not meeting their obligation to cultivate future generations of responsible citizens, and our education systems should do far more to promote civics education.

Gun violence has inspired a lot of the recent student engagement. After the tragic shooting in Parkland, Florida, Marjory Stoneman Douglas students gave speeches and interviews in national media outlets, encouraged thousands of students to participate in school walk-outs, organized over 800 March For Our Lives events around the world, and led a #RoadToChange bus tour to register young people to vote and end gun violence.
