Trump is wrong: Clean energy is great for the U.S. economy

Announcing the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, President Donald Trump frequently touted the benefits that this decision will have for the American economy and workforce. In his Rose Garden remarks, he argued that the Paris agreement would cost jobs, reduce economic output, and leave the country poorer overall.

Despite these claims, a closer inspection of the facts shows that abandoning the global commitment to fight climate change will not only hurt the American economy’s future growth, but will also do little to revive the prospects of coal country and other good working-class jobs in our current labor market.
