President Donald Trump’s so-called Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity is nothing more than a thinly veiled plot to make it harder for Americans to vote. Led by Vice President Mike Pence and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, the commission is an attempt to validate President Trump’s false assertion that illegal voting cost him the popular vote in 2016. The commission, which meets for the first time this week, will likely try to constrain voter participation by making it more difficult to register to vote and cast a ballot, particularly for certain groups. With voting rights under attack at both the state and national levels, we asked Sarah Audelo of the Alliance for Youth Action and Shaneice Simmons of Rock the Vote to talk about how progressives can fight back to make voting more convenient and accessible.
