The Case Against Corporate Tax Boondoggles

Center for American Progress
4:00 - 5:30 PM EDT

Each year, U.S. states and cities spend tens of billions of dollars on corporate tax breaks in a quest to secure new jobs and economic development. This includes deals such as Foxconn in Wisconsin—but also for sports stadiums, big-box stores, and the Trump International Hotel at the historic Old Post Office in Washington, D.C.

How can cities and states ensure economic development works for all their residents—not just big corporations and the rich?

Please join the Center for American Progress for a discussion on who all that money really helps and how cities and states can ensure that their economic development is fair and inclusive.

Copies of The Billionaire Boondoggle: How Our Politicians Let Corporations and Bigwigs Steal Our Money and Jobs will be available for purchase at the event.
