A New Approach to the Retirement Crisis

A discussion on Rescuing Retirement: A Plan To Guarantee Retirement Security For All Americans, a new book by Tony James and Teresa Ghilarducci

Rescuing Retirement Book CoverThe United States faces a retirement crisis. Millions of hardworking Americans are at risk of having to make substantial and painful cuts in their spending when they retire. It is abundantly clear that the current approach to saving for retirement is not working for many families.

Join the Center for American Progress, Teresa Ghilarducci, and Tony James in a discussion on their new book, Rescuing Retirement: A Plan To Guarantee Retirement Security For All Americans, where they suggest a new path toward substantially enhancing the retirement security for working families. This event will discuss their ideas on universal contributions, changes to tax credits, and guaranteed retirement income. A clearer understanding of what doesn’t work and how things could be changed for the better when it comes to retirement savings could help inform a serious and necessary policy discussion. American families will be able to look at a more secure retirement with new policy approaches.

A book signing with the authors will follow the discussion.
