Child Nutrition Programs and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program House Briefing

Hosted by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT)

3:30 - 5:00 PM EDT

People from across the country who contributed to the “Community Voices: Why Nutrition Assistance Matters” project will be joining us on Capitol Hill to share their personal experiences with school meals; the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, or WIC, and other child nutrition programs; as well as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. These contributors have experienced these critical programs firsthand, and they are the real experts when it comes to their importance and effect. We look forward to sharing these contributors’ insights with members of Congress, as well as their staff.

Sponsored by the Center for American Progress, Witnesses to Hunger, the Coalition on Human Needs, the Food Research and Action Center, Feeding America, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Community Voices was a summer-long national effort to collect and share personal experiences about SNAP and child nutrition programs. Many more of these stories will be included in a special book that will be distributed to House and Senate offices on the same day.
