Our second session in the new season of Progressivism on Tap will feature a discussion with New Republic Senior Editor Noam Scheiber, author of The Escape Artists, perhaps the best book on how the Obama administration dealt with the economic crisis. Scheiber has also written a series of very informative and astute articles for The New Republic on the repeated fiscal confrontations between the administration and Republicans in Congress, up to and including the recent government shutdown. We will explore the lessons progressives can draw from these confrontations, especially as we look toward a future where more of the same may be in the offing.
