“We need to be creative and daring. We need a moon shot – a Jobs Race to the top. The goal: Create 3 million jobs in three years.”

—“How to win the race for jobs” by Jennifer Granholm, Opinion, Politico.

On the final day of our online discussion forum, we point you to a relevant opinion piece by outgoing Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm in Politico. The Center for American Progress wishes to thank all our commentators and participants who have contributed to a lively and informative discussion. An archive of the forum will be permanently available as of Monday, December 13.

In the wake of disappointing jobs numbers, Governor Granholm calls for a “Jobs Race to the Top” that rewards localities that develop effective public-private partnerships in the clean energy space. She argues that a competition of similar scale and scope to the Recovery Act’s $1.35 billion Race to the Top education competition could create lasting jobs quickly.
