Gerrymandering is when electoral districts are drawn unfairly—usually by politicians, for politicians, rather than for the people. Although the Supreme Court has said that partisan gerrymandering is “beyond the reach of the federal courts,” there is a common-sense solution, and it is well within the reach of citizens and legislators.
