Part of a Series

The passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act—two of which received broad bipartisan support—unleashed an unprecedented level of public and private sector investments in America. These investments are rebuilding the country’s infrastructure, bolstering American manufacturing, and cementing U.S. leadership in critical new industries such as clean energy, electric vehicles, and much more. In total, these investments hold the promise of creating, supporting and reshoring millions of well-paying jobs.

Methodology and data notes

All of the federal investment data presented in this tracker are pulled directly from several federal sources: USAspending.gov, Build.gov, and federal agency press releases. Some of these data are supplemented with press clips and vetted information from local officials. Related private investment data are sourced from WhiteHouse.gov, company press releases, and CAP staff research. Note that these data, while extensive, are not comprehensive and should be treated as such, nor should they be used to determine total amounts awarded or announced in state or legislative districts. Before using these data, please note the various caveats in some of the source data.

Corresponding congressional district and state legislative district data are pulled using GeoCod.io, a paid service that uses the U.S. Census Bureau as well as individual state data for district boundaries. For instances where the data provide a specific address, the tool is able to pull specific district data. However, in many cases, available data only include a county or city. In these cases, the tool will pull all potentially relevant districts. For example, if the only available data point is a city, this tool will pull all the congressional districts that fall within that city. That being the case, this should be used as a guide and should not be considered definitive. CAP hopes to update and improve this function as more data become available. It is important to note that the vast majority of investment locations are approximate, and congressional district and state legislative district information should not be considered definitive nor should the maps in each investment profile.
