Gerti Wilson is a legal assistant at American Progress. She served as a research assistant for the Colored Conventions Project, a digital humanities project focused on the political activism of African Americans in the 19th century. Wilson was formerly an intern in the Washington, D.C., office of Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE). She is a recipient of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship which afforded her the opportunity to study abroad in South Africa. Additionally, she conducted qualitative research on women’s political leadership in Ghana. During her college tenure, Wilson was actively involved with the administration at the University of Delaware to not only increase diversity, but to create an inclusive campus community. Wilson graduated with a B.A. with distinction in political science from the University of Delaware.
