Mina Jafari is the digital media associate for Generation Progress, running social media accounts and producing video as well as graphic design content.

Prior to joining Generation Progress, Jafari was the graphics and communications associate and later the digital media manager at the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) and its sister organization NIAC Action. During her four years at NIAC, she produced videos, spearheaded digital media campaigns, created graphics and branding material, and increased the organization’s social media following and email list by tens of thousands.

From February 2012 until May 2013, Jafari taught English in Iran, with a keen interest in learning more about work, social, and home life in a country under tough economic sanctions. While there, she met her future husband, Hesam. Last year, they married in Iran, after Trump’s Muslim ban prevented her husband’s family from traveling to the United States for the wedding.

Jafari graduated from the University of Maryland, where she double majored in Persian studies and government and politics, while continuing to pursue her interests in graphic design and marketing—even launching her own design company.
