Chris Hayden is a director of Communications at American Progress, where he oversees the communications operation of the rapid-response War Room. Before joining American Progress in 2017, Hayden held various communications roles with U.S. Senate campaigns and offices for more than five years. He served as the communications director for then-Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander’s U.S. Senate campaign, press secretary for Sen. Kay Hagan’s (D-NC) Senate office and then re-election campaign, and deputy press secretary for Sen. Claire McCaskill’s (D-MO) re-election campaign.

He started his political communications career as a college intern at NBC’s “Meet the Press” during the 2008 election cycle. A native of Long Island, New York, Hayden holds a degree in political science from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
