Julia Busch is the director of Foundation Relations at American Progress. Her experience spans both fundraising and public policy.
Throughout her fundraising career, Busch has worked to raise foundation support for programs designed to strengthen low-income individuals, families, and communities. As Primary Care Development Corporation’s first dedicated institutional fundraising staff member, Busch worked to build the organization’s foundation fundraising portfolio and partnered with executive and program staff to secure high-profile industry and government awards. At both the University Settlement Society and The Door, Busch supervised grants activity and worked closely with leadership to create and implement strategic approaches to expand institutional support. During her tenure at the 92nd Street Y, Busch shepherded a portfolio of donors and prospects that yielded new grants of up to seven figures. At United Neighborhood Houses, or UNH, Busch worked to secure foundation support for UNH and settlement house initiatives throughout New York City.
Her background also includes experience conducting research on topics such as financial security, housing, and education for public policy organizations such as Dēmos, the Aspen Institute, the Center for Policy Alternatives, and the National Center for Schools and Communities at Fordham University.
Busch holds a B.A. in economics from Vassar College and an M.P.A. in social policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
