Michael Anderson is a major gifts officer at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, he was the assistant director of constituent engagement at Johns Hopkins University.

While there, Anderson worked in the development and external affairs department, launching efforts to engage area business leaders, managing senior-level advisory boards, and expanding fundraising efforts in the United States and China. Prior to that, he worked for Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD) on Capitol Hill, handling policy issues relating to telecommunications, technology, tax, budget, education, and labor.

A native of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Anderson received a B.S. in economics from Northern Arizona University and an M.S. in journalism and communications from South Dakota State University. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.
