Just Jobs Network
The Center for American Progress, with seed funding from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has launched the Just Jobs Network, a global network of think tanks and institutions that will advocate to ensure that the creation of just jobs — jobs complete with labor rights, appropriate remuneration, and social protections such as health care and pensions — and opportunities for economic mobility are a prime focus in international and national policies.
This network is a platform for members to share knowledge and experiences. Members will strategize collectively to garner attention and international momentum behind the creation of just jobs for development and as a necessary means to make economic integration and trade work better for all workers who power the global economy.
The network will be advised by the Just Jobs Advisory Group, an assembly of high-profile policy leaders including John Podesta, President and CEO of the Center for American Progress; Jonas Gahr Støre, the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs; Maria João Rodrigues, special advisor to the European Union Presidencies and to the European Commission and former Minister of Employment and Training for Portugal; Lord Peter Mandelson, Chairman of the Global Counsel and former EU Trade Commissioner and U.K. Business Secretary; Pravin Gordhan, the South African Minister of Finance; and Richard Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO.
