Angela Kelley, VP for Immigration Policy at the Center for American Progress, discusses the urgent need for comprehensive immigration reform in the United States. She addresses what comprehensive immigration reform is, why we need it, and how quickly Congress can act on immigration reform.
The Center for American Progress supports an immigration reform package that requires all undocumented immigrants to register and become legal, pay taxes, pass criminal background checks, and learn English. Any immigration reform package must also devise a robust, effective enforcement program while reducing the family backlogs and include a careful assessment of our future legal migration needs.
