Washington, D.C. — Carol M. Browner, former Environmental Protection Agency administrator and Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, released the following statement on the passing of former EPA Administrator Russell E. Train:
Russell Train was one of those public servants who dedicated his work to putting the public first. He was at the forefront of establishing landmark public health and environmental protections for safe drinking water and reductions in toxic pollution. His record of success became a legacy of cleaner air, cleaner water, and safer communities. With his passing, our air, land, water, and public health have lost a steadfast guardian. During my EPA tenure I cherished his visits, which were always fun and full of valuable insights. My thoughts and prayers are with Russell’s family.
