Never Forget
Five Years Ago, Tragedy Struck America Like Never Before
Five years ago, tragedy struck America like never before. Today, we join all Americans in remembering those who lost their lives that day in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, in the fields of Pennsylvania, and in the attack on the Pentagon in Virginia.
We honor the sacrifices made that day, particularly by those who ran into the burning towers to save others or who struck back at the terrorists and paid the ultimate price.
We also remember the good that came out of that day--the outpouring of resolve and love not just from our fellow Americans, but from people around the world. September 11, 2001 will remain a day where the world stopped and for a moment was united in sympathy and support for America and anger at those who launched the murderous assault.
As we look back today on the 9/11 attacks, let us remember and honor those who died that day, the families they left behind, and the brave men and women who continue to serve our country.
