Michele Jolin is a Senior Fellow at American Progress, where she is managing a presidential transition project that will provide policy advice and recommendations to the 44th president, in an effort to help steer the government in a more progressive direction. Jolin also is developing policy tools and ideas to help spur social entrepreneurship in the non-profit sector. Over the last decade, social entrepreneurs have been a leading force in solving some of the most serious challenges facing our nation and the world. The federal government can do more to support and invest in the innovative efforts that have demonstrated impact and to help stimulate innovation and other models of high-impact entrepreneurship. As part of this, Jolin is developing a plan for a "White House Office of Social Innovation and Impact" and other policy tools to foster social entrepreneurship in the non-profit sector.

Before joining American Progress, Jolin was a Vice President at Ashoka, an international nonprofit that invests in social entrepreneurs in 43 countries around the world. While at Ashoka, she focused on management and strategic planning, as well as launching and running several of Ashoka's global programs supporting the work of social entrepreneurs. Before Ashoka, Jolin served for four years at the White House as the Chief of Staff for President Clinton's Council of Economic Advisers. Prior to that, she worked for Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) on the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. Jolin also worked as an Associate at the Washington, D.C. law firm Patton Boggs, where she practiced international trade law. Jolin has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and a J.D. from the University of Virginia.
