Sean Gibbons

Director of Media Strategy

Sean Gibbons is the Director of Media Strategy at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Sean spent eight years with CNN, where he covered the events of 9/11, Hurricane Ivan and the Capitol Hill shootings, among other stories. He was most recently the Washington producer for Anderson Cooper 360, Newsnight, Paula Zahn Now and CNN International programming, working with CNN's Washington correspondents and producers at the White House, Capitol Hill, Pentagon, Justice and State Departments. Before that, Sean was Wolf Blitzer's producer for The News with Wolf Blitzer program and the Washington producer for American Morning at that show's inception. From 1997 to 2000, he covered economic news as the Washington producer for Moneyline with Lou Dobbs and CNN Financial News. Prior to joining CNN, Sean worked at ABC News on programs including World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, Nightline, Good Morning America, Primetime Live and This Week with David Brinkley. He is a graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
