The progressive faith community has long provided moral leadership in the struggle for racial equity and is essential to the success of “My Brother’s Keeper,” an effort that President Barack Obama launched in February to address the persistent racial inequities in educational opportunity, employment, and incarceration among African American and Latino youth and men.
In keeping with this tradition, PICO National Network launched “LIVE FREE: 90 Days of Action to Preach, Pray, and Act to Become My Brother’s Keeper.” This effort engaged tens of thousands of people of faith, trained more than 3,000 community leaders in multiday LIVE FREE boot camps in 15 cities, listened to the testimony and views of communities closest to the pain, and developed policy and programmatic recommendations.

As part of a Day of Testimony, prominent faith leaders, formerly incarcerated people, youth, and others directly affected by racial inequality will share testimony and recommendations for the My Brother’s Keeper initiative.
