CANCELLED: American Winter

A Reel Progress Screening and Discussion

6:30 - 9:00 PM EST

Due to inclement weather, this screening has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience, and urge you to watch “American Winter” when it premieres on HBO on March 18.

“American Winter” is a timely documentary that follows the personal stories of families struggling in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. Filmed over the winter of 2011-12, the film presents an intimate snapshot of the state of the nation’s economy as it is playing out in the lives of many American families, and reveals the human consequences of cuts to social services, the decline of the middle class, and the fracturing of the American Dream.

Please join the Center for American Progress’ Reel Progress film series, The Nation, the National Association of Social Workers, and The Raben Group for a screening of “American Winter.” Following the film, there will be a panel discussion with policy experts and the film’s producer and director, as well as audience Q&A.

Additionally, we will be collecting nonperishable canned goods at the registration table, which will be donated to DC Central Kitchen. We invite all attendees to bring nonperishable food items with them to the theater.

“American Winter,” produced and directed by Emmy® Award-winning filmmakers Joe and Harry Gantz, will premiere on Monday, March 18, 2013, on HBO at 9:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific.

This screening is free and open to the public.
