Phil Jarvis
Phil Jarvis has helped create career resources now used by millions of students and adults in education, government, and industry settings around the world. Examples include Careers Canada, Careers Provinces, Choices, Canada Prospects, The Real Game Series, the Blueprint for Life/Work Designs, Canada WorkinfoNet, Destination 2020, The Edge Magazine, and Smart Options.
He has trained thousands of educators and career and workforce development specialists. He is an innovator, broker of public-private sector partnerships, researcher, project coordinator, trainer, author, promoter, and presenter. Phil designed and supervised multimillion-dollar World Bank-funded career infrastructure projects in Romania, Turkey, and Hungary. He participated in all three international symposia hosted by Canada on career development and public policy in 1999, 2001, and 2003. Phil is a frequent keynote speaker at North American and international conferences, and was the founding coordinator of the Canada Career Information Partnership and the Canada WorkinfoNet Partnership. He has significantly altered the landscape and practice of career, community, and workforce development. He is a passionate advocate of equipping all citizens with the career and life management competencies they need to find meaning, purpose, and prosper in the workforce and society of the third millennium.
Phil was the 1999 recipient of the Stu Conger Award for Leadership in Career Development in Canada. He also received the Stu Conger Gold Medal at NATCON 2004.
