Marie-Louise Caravatti

Marie-Louise (Mal) Caravatti is Associate Director for Research at the American Association of Teachers and holds a PhD in economics from Georgetown University and BA from London University. Her research has centered on education, workforce and technology issues. Prior to joining the AFT she was Director of the Task Force on Workforce Development for the New Economy Information Service. She served in the Clinton administration as Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Technology Administration and at the U.S. Department of Energy, with responsibility for accelerating the development and adoption of energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies. She has also worked on international trade and anti-trust issues at the International Trade Commission and various economic consulting firms.
