N. Ellen McCarthy

Ms. McCarthy is a Managing Director of Government Affairs for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) where she is primarily responsible for tax matters. Prior to working at SIFMA, Ms. McCarthy was Tax Counsel for the Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Grassley (IA). She previously worked as international tax counsel at PepsiCo, Inc. and as tax counsel at General Motors and its affiliated financial subsidiaries.

Ms. McCarthy earned a B.A. in Political Science from Eckerd College, a J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. Ms. McCarthy is also a retired United States Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel. She is a veteran of the Gulf War and was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon and Bronze Star for service in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
