Joanna Nathan
Joanna Nathan was the Senior Analyst for the International Crisis Group based in Afghanistan from May 2005 to July 2009 working on analytical reports about elections and the new representative institutions; security sector reform; and the growing insurgency. Coming from a background in journalism, she previously worked with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting in 2003/2004 on a media development project focused on the Constitutional Loya Jirga which evolved into Afghanistan's first independent news agency. Currently undertaking a mid-career Master of Public Policy at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University she continues to work on Afghan issues with a blog on Foreign Policy's AfPak channel and as a member of the Afghanistan Analyst's Network. She also has a chapter in the new edited volume Decoding the New Taliban on the insurgent's use of media.
