Maggie Mahar

Maggie Mahar is the award-winning journalist whose acclaimed book Money-Driven Medicine: The Real Reason Health Care Costs So Much (Harper/Collins 2006) inspired the documentary. She is the Healthcare Fellow at The Century Foundation where she writes the Health Beat blog (www.healthbeatblog.org), a must-read for all those interested in up-to-date coverage of breaking news and opinion about health care reform.

Before specializing in health care, Mahar was a financial journalist. She has worked for Institutional Investor, The New York Times, and Barron's, where she served first as senior writer and then as senior editor. She also wrote a column about international markets and economics for Bloomberg. Her book Bull! A History of the Boom, 1982–1999 (Harper/Collins, 2003), was recommended by Warren Buffett.
