Jim Hermes

Jim Hermes is a senior legislative associate with the American Association of Community Colleges, where he has been since 1999. AACC is the premier national organization representing the interests of community colleges, counting over 90 percent of the nation's community colleges as its members. The legislative issues Jim covers include workforce development and vocational education, technology policy, international education, and veterans’ education. Prior to joining AACC, Jim worked in government relations for People for the American Way, a public policy organization focused on first amendment issues and education. He is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School and Dartmouth College.

The American Association of Community Colleges is the primary advocacy organization for the nation's community colleges. The Association represents more than 1,100 associate degree-granting institutions and some 10 million students. Formed in 1920, AACC is a national voice for community colleges, which marked their 100th year of service to the nation in 2001.
