Willie J. Parker

Willie J. Parker, MD, MPH is the Director of Family Planning for Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. He served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii prior to his current position. He holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Berea College in Kentucky, an M.D. degree from the University of Iowa, a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health, a Masters of Science in Health Services Research from the University of Michigan where he completed a fellowship in Family Planning in 2008, and served residencies in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Cincinnati, preventive medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the Centers for Disease Control. He is both board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and trained in preventive medicine.

His more recent work has focused on the prevention and response to violence against women, sexual assault, and the preservation of women’s reproductive health rights through advocacy and the provision of contraceptive and abortion services.
