The Charismatic Organization
Eight Ways to Grow a Nonprofit that Builds Buzz, Delights Donors, and Energizes Employees
April 17, 2009, 12:00pm – 1:30pm
About This Event
While some nonprofits are chronically underfunded and understaffed, others can raise a million dollars at a single event. Their boards are full of energetic, knowledgeable, and connected people. They have grown steadily over the last decade. They are the go-to groups on their issues, the place to work, and the leaders in their fields. These organizations will weather the current financial crisis and be poised to thrive when the climate turns.

The reason for the success of these nonprofits is not charismatic leadership. Not every charismatic leader runs a successful organization, and not every successful organization has a charismatic leader. Rather, nonprofit boards and staff through careful design and active outreach can build an organization that is both effective and enduring. They can do so by investing the nonprofit with crucial qualities we see in all highly charismatic nonprofits and by using proven methods that have succeeded in all types of organizations.
At this book event, co-authors Shirley Sagawa and Deb Jospin will share their research on "charismatic organizations" and how to apply these lessons even during an economic downturn.
Copies of The Charismatic Organization will be available for purchase at the event.
