Scott Cartland

Scott Cartland is the principal of Webb/Wheatley Elementary School in northeast, Washington, DC. As principal, he is charged with leading a school restructuring effort required by the No Child Left Behind law. Prior to this position, Scott was principal at Janney Elementary School for four years and Assistant Principal at Murch Elementary School. Scott began his career in education as a Teach for America teacher in Baltimore in 1992. He has taught second through sixth grades in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Compton, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC. He has also worked for Teach For America as a recruiter and the The New Teacher Project as a project manager. Scott is a graduate of Wilson High School in Washington, DC and received a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Religion from Colgate University. He's also a member of the DC Collaborative for Change.
