Nella Garcia

Nella Garcia is Manager of the Teaching Excellence Program at YES Prep Public Schools, where she supports the professional development of the schools' teachers. She began her career at YES Prep as an instructor at YES Prep North East, where she taught sixth grade Arts and Humanities and Reading as well as Spanish for grades seven and eight. In sum, her professional experience includes working approximately four years as an apprentice to a reading specialist serving students with disabilities, four years of classroom teaching experience that has resulted in noticeable student academic growth, and at least one year of administrative experience as Assistant School Director at YES Prep.

Nella has received training in instructing English language learners. She holds a bachelors degree in political science and Spanish from Rice University and a masters of education from Sam Houston State University.
