Gregory F. McGinity

Gregory McGinity is the Senior Director of Policy for The Broad Foundation in Los Angeles. He manages a multi-million dollar portfolio of strategic investments in urban school reform, including the national public awareness campaign, Strong American Schools.

Prior to joining The Broad Foundation in 2003, Mr. McGinity served as a senior policy advisor at both the national and state levels. He was appointed by President George H. W. Bush to the Department of Education's Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs as a Legislative Liaison and to the White House Conference on Aging as the Director of Public Liaison.

Mr. McGinity served as Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Thad Cochran and as Legislative Director to U.S. Representative, now U.S. Senator, Lindsey Graham, where he advised the Members of Congress on education, health care, international relations, trade, and appropriations issues. He staffed Senator Cochran on the National Education Goals Panel. Returning to his home state in 1998, Mr. McGinity was appointed by California Governor Pete Wilson as the Senior Education Policy Consultant to the State Board of Education, where he helped put in place the state's highly-rated academic content standards and assessment system.

Taking a brief leave of absence from The Broad Foundation, Mr. McGinity served on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Transition Team and as Chief of Staff to California Secretary of Education Richard J. Riordan during the early months of the Schwarzenegger Administration.

Mr. McGinity received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his Masters in Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he studied strategy and marketing and was a Sigoloff Fellow. He also served as a Senior Fellow at the UCLA School of Public Affairs.
