Dr. Gregory Acs
Dr. Gregory Acs is a Principal Research Associate in The Urban Institute's Income and Benefits Policy Center. He is also a research affiliate with the National Poverty Center. His research focuses broadly on social welfare policy with particular emphasis on low-income families, low-wage labor markets, public assistance programs, and child well-being. Currently, Dr. Acs is co-directing a projects studying employers in the low-wage labor market as well as economic stability and mobility among low-income working families. In recent work, Dr. Acs has examined the employment, earnings, and well-being of current and former welfare recipients. In other recent work he has examined how living arrangements and the stability of parental marriage influence the well-being of children. Dr. Acs received a Ph.D. in economics and social work from the University of Michigan in 1990.
