Roy Forbes

Roy Forbes is in the 49th year of his career. His experiences have been wide and varied, but always with a focus on innovation and improvement. Roy was the founding executive director of SERVE, the regional research and development laboratory that serves the southeastern states. During the middle seventies and early eighties he was the director of the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

He has served as the director of a rural education center in eastern North Carolina and an urban education center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Following his retirement from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro he has continued to be active as an educational consultant. Currently he is working with the SC 21st Century Community Learning Centers program and the Georgia Afterschool Investment Council. Last week he was visiting after-school programs in Beaufort County, South Carolina and will soon initiate the development of three afterschool technical assistance centers across the state of South Carolina. Roy calls Atlanta home.
