Robert Valencia
Assistant Editor
Robert Valencia is an Assistant Editor for American Progress. Robert grew up in Bogotá, Colombia and Miami, Florida. He holds a bachelor's degree in communications and international relations from Florida International University, and studied abroad at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest in Angers, France. He recently completed a master's degree program in public relations from Iona College, New York, where he received honors for his thesis on the influence of PR campaigns on corporate reputation through the theoretical foundations of agenda-setting. Prior to joining the American Progress, Robert interned at the United Nations’ Department of Public Information in New York and served as a research assistant for the International Budget Partnership at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington, D.C. In Miami, he worked as a writer for The Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel’s Jewish Journal, Terra Lycos and the Society of Professional Journalists. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and French.
