Alan Rosenblatt is the Associate Director for Online Advocacy at American Progress and CAP Action Fund, directing the organizations’ social media program. He is a pioneer, frequent speaker, and author on the intersection of digital media, advocacy, and politics, specializing in social media strategy. He is the founder of the Internet Advocacy Roundtable; an adjunct professor at Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and American Universities, where he teaches graduate courses on Internet politics, digital political strategies, and Internet advocacy communications; has been a contributing blogger at TechPresident.com and currently blogs at BigThink.com. DrDigiPol.Tumblr.com and occasionally at the Huffington Post; and he is a former fellow at George Washington University's Institute for Politics, Democracy, & the Internet.

Alan is also co-founder of Media Bureau Networks, a pioneer in streaming media services; serves on the editorial boards of several scholarly journals, including the Journal of Information Technology & Politics and the Journal of Political Marketing; and is a member of the boards of directors for E-Democracy.org and for Enlightened Citizenry.

Alan taught political science at George Mason University for nine years, where, in 1995, he created and taught the first-ever university course on Internet politics. With Media Bureau Networks, he webcasted live coverage of the 2000 presidential conventions. In 2001, as vice president for Online Advocacy Services at Stateside Associates, he created the nation’s first internet strategy consultancy for state-level issue management. From 2003 to 2005 he served as director of training programs at e-advocates. And from 2005 to 2007, he was founder and executive director of the Internet Advocacy Center.

Alan has a Ph.D. in political science from American University, an M.A. in political science from Boston College, and a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Tufts University. He lives in Arlington, Virginia and can be found on Twitter and across the social web at @DrDigipol.
