Shana Jenkins
Special Assistant and Office Manager
Shana Jenkins is the Special Assistant and Office Manager at American Progress’s California office. She graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles in June 2007 where she majored in political science with an emphasis in political theory and a minor in public policy. While at UCLA, she focused her studies on the transportation industry. She participated in a project that looked at the lives and working conditions of taxi workers in Los Angeles, which prompted her and a research partner to conduct their own comparative study of the taxi industry in Las Vegas. Shana also spent an academic quarter in Washington, D.C. where she spent three months working on a cost-benefit analysis of two proposed mass transit options: the Metrorail Purple Line and the InterCounty Connector. While in Washington, Shana participated in the American Progress internship program where she worked with the Economic Policy Team and co-authored two papers with Christian Weller on retirement security.
