Robert Gordon
Senior Fellow
Robert Gordon is a Senior Fellow at American Progress. He recently returned to American Progress from the New York City Department of Education, where he led a major overhaul of the city’s school finance system. Before joining the Center in 2005, Robert was the domestic policy director for the Kerry-Edwards campaign, serving as the campaign's designee on the Democratic platform drafting committee. For several years, Robert worked for Sen. John Edwards (D-NC), serving as his Judiciary Counsel, Legislative Director, and Policy Director in the 2004 campaign.
Earlier in his career, Robert was a law clerk for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and a Skadden Fellow at the Juvenile Rights Division of the Legal Aid Society in New York City. Robert also served in the Clinton White House as an aide to the National Economic Council and the Office of National Service, where he helped craft the legislation creating AmeriCorps.
Robert's writing on domestic policy has been published by the Brookings Institution, the New Republic, Slate, and the Washington Monthly, among other publications, and has been cited by the nation's major newspapers. Robert graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College and from Yale Law School.
