Rebecca Friendly

Special Assistant

Rebecca Friendly is the Special Assistant at American Progress' California Office. She joined CAP’s California Office in July 2011 following her graduation with honors from Wesleyan University where she majored in government. She was elected into Phi Beta Kappa and was awarded the Davenport Prize. She also spent a semester abroad in Argentina and later wrote a senior thesis entitled “Women’s Empowerment Beyond Elections: The Relevance of Legal Gender Quotas in Latin America.”

A native of Los Angeles, she previously interned at CAP’s California Office and at the district offices of Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-CA), then-speaker of the California Assembly.
