Jennifer Erickson
Director of Competitiveness and Economic Growth
Jennifer Erickson is the Director of Competitiveness and Economic Growth at American Progress. Her work focuses on a range of issues affecting America’s ability to compete successfully at home and internationally.
Prior to joining CAP, Jennifer served as special adviser to the First Minister of Scotland, with portfolios including economic growth, innovation, and U.S. relations. She served as the economic adviser in both of the First Ministers' election campaigns—doubling electoral gains in 2007 and winning a historic majority in 2011. Jennifer also served as adviser for economy and energy to Alex Salmond MP at the House of Commons in London. Prior to her experience at Westminster, she worked at Bain & Company advising private equity clients and at the Bridgespan Group, Bain’s nonprofit spin-off, advising philanthropists and their grantees.
Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree in government and economics at the University of Virginia and her master's degree in public policy at the University of Edinburgh. She is the co-author of The Economics of Independence.
