Colin Cookman
Special Assistant
Colin Cookman is the Special Assistant for National Security at American Progress, after having first joined the team as an intern in January 2008. His research and writing at CAP focuses primarily on issues related to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and broader counterterrorism policy. In his role as Special Assistant he also offers administrative and organizational support to the range of work conducted by the National Security team. Cookman graduated from Boston University magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in international relations in 2005. Prior to his arrival at the Center, he was employed as an assistant language teacher in Karatsu City, Japan, and as an assistant advisor with Habitat for Humanity International's Summer Youth Blitz Program. He is a native of Bloomington, Indiana.
