Robin Chait

Robin Chait is a Senior Education Policy Analyst at American Progress. She has a wide range of policy analysis, research, and program management experience in high school improvement and education reform.

Most recently she worked with Practical Strategy, LLC, Education Policy and Management Consulting to provide on-site assistance to the National High School Alliance. At the HS Alliance, her main focus was managing the National Network of Constituent Organizations project, a network of organizations funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to advance the work of the National Governors Association's Honor States program.

She has also worked with Cross & Joftus, LLC, providing research support to the National Governors Association, Holland and Knight, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on a number of projects, including developing profiles of best practices in high school reform for the NGA's state policy compendium, "Getting It Done: Ten Steps to a State Action Agenda." She played a central role in developing competencies for improving grants management for the Corporation for National Service’s Learn and Serve America program and conducted background research in support of its grants streamlining initiative.

A former third-grade teacher, Chait also served as a Program Analyst in the U.S. Department of Education’s Planning and Evaluation Service, where she designed and managed a major evaluation of the Reading Excellence Act and wrote major sections of the congressionally mandated National Assessment of Title I reports and other Department of Education-issued reports.

She also recently completed a year of teaching remedial reading to high school students at the Maya Angelou Public Charter School. Chait holds a Masters in Teaching from American University, a Masters in Public Policy from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University.
