Summary
The Center for American Progress Action Fund has an immediate opening for a Policy Director for the ThinkProgress War Room. The ThinkProgress War Room is a strategic communications hub working at the center of progressive advocacy. The Policy Director has primary responsibility for coordinating with CAP and CAPAF policy experts to produce timely and effective analytical policy products that help define both progressive and conservative policies and positions. These products will be for use with progressive allies, the media, and others. This position will also work closely with the War Room Director to drive strategic campaigns with progressive partners that combine strong communications work with policy analysis.
Job responsibilities:
- Work with War Room Director and Communications Director to produce and execute campaign plans.
- Identify policy and communications opportunities for strategic issue campaigns and oversee analysis and production of CAPAF policy papers pursuant to issue campaign goals.
- Coordinate with CAP and CAPAF policy teams about development of timely products and press strategy.
- Oversee research staff in production of fact sheets, reports, and press materials.
- Coordinate with congressional allies and progressive allies.
Job requirements:
- Background in policy, research, and communications.
- Strong research, writing experience.
- Experience working with progressive organizations.
- Familiarity with ThinkProgress.org, The Progress Report, and the progressive blogosphere.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to quickly respond to news developments.
Job qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
Preferred experience
- 5-7 years of experience in policy, communications, and/or research. Campaign experience desired but not required.
