Associate Director of Press Relations, Global Warming

Summary

The Center for American Progress has an immediate opening in our Communications Department for an Associate Director of Press Relations for Global Warming. The Associate Director will be responsible for working with global warming policy staff to develop and implement a communications plan and press roll-out plans for Center initiatives, serving as a spokesperson for the Center, and working with editorial boards to place op-eds.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and implement a communications plan for the Center’s global warming work
  • Work with policy staff to develop specific press plans for the Center’s work
  • Develop and implement editorial board strategies, including placement of op-eds
  • Pitch reporters on covering Center initiatives
  • Serve as a spokesperson for Center

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least four years experience in working with the media
  • Relevant experience is necessary
  • “On the record” spokesperson experience a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel a plus
  • Experience working with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations a plus
  • Committed to the organization’s mission and goals
