In addition, we will devote time and resources to addressing a second track of concerns: high school reform, dropout recovery, creating a pathway from secondary to post-secondary education, and promoting community schools. Special Assistant for Development

Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President

American Progress is looking for a Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President. This position calls for a highly organized individual with unusual attention to detail.  The job involves providing both administrative and research support to a senior executive who relies heavily upon her Special Assistant for setting priorities, exercising judgment, managing important relationships, providing timely and concise information, and ensuring she is well prepared for speeches, events, and meetings,

A co-author of the original plan to create a progressive think tank dedicated to both ideas and action, the EVP has managed American Progress’ operations and rapid growth. In the last 18 months, she has turned a portion of her attention to economic policy and, in particular, work on housing, finance, and the mortgage crisis. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone eager to have a front-row seat to the issues of the day at an exciting and dynamic organization engaged in today’s policy debates. The Center generates new ideas, shapes new and old media, and uses popular culture as a tool for engagement, issue advocacy, online activism, and so much more. Prior occupants of this position have moved on to exciting opportunities in the new administration, policy, politics, and media.
