Development/Strategic Planning
The Development department at the Center for American Progress works to ensure the long-term stability of the organization. The Development team maintains relationships with members of the progressive philanthropic community; coordinates the work of the Center’s various departments with the Center’s long-term goals; and furthers the Center’s mission through communication, coordination, and financial outreach. Responsibilities for Development interns may include managing the Center’s donor database, staying updated on the activities of the Center’s various policy teams, researching activities of the progressive philanthropic community and infrastructure, researching and learning about potential prospects, assisting with events and fundraisers, and other duties as assigned.
The work of the development team requires constant communication with all deparments and interns will be exposed to people and work being done across the Center. Interns may also have the opportunity to write for various purposes and are encouraged to be open about their specific interests. Due to the small size of the department, interns work closely with staff and can help shape various projects.
