Phoebe Sweet is Director of Speechwriting at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, she worked on the Hill as communications advisor and speechwriter for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). She also worked on Sen. Reid’s 2010 re-election campaign, serving as communications director for the Nevada State Democratic Party and the Coordinated Campaign.
Prior to that, Sweet also spent eight years as a newspaper reporter and columnist. After five years reporting on politics, education, and diversity issues for East Coast newspapers, she spent three years covering the environment, the utility industry, and water issues in the desert Southwest. Sweet was raised in Maine and studied journalism at Boston University.
